Mission

K-Drama Festa is an opportunity to reflect on Hallyu as a translation enabler and cultural activator.
The term Hallyu means “Korean wave” and refers to the success and popularity of Korean cultural and commercial products as a “soft” manifestation of influence and economic power, which helps preserve Korean customs and culture.
K-dramas, among the pillars of Hallyu, depict the perseverance of tradition while manifesting the disruptive innovation of Korea’s economic might and influence, demonstrating how media narratives construct the concept of Koreanness around the world. Moreover, they are a media format that has undoubtedly instilled a strong network of intercultural connections and has proven effective in communicating South Korea.
